Serving everyone affected by Parkinson's through one digital home

The Michael J. Fox Foundation is the world's largest non-profit funder of Parkinson's research — but their digital presence wasn't keeping pace with their mission. They needed a flagship website built around the diverse needs of patients, loved ones, researchers, clinicians, and industry partners. At the same time, they saw an opportunity to do something no Parkinson's organization had done before: launch a large-scale, longitudinal online clinical study that could collect real-world patient data and share it with researchers worldwide.

A redesigned flagship site and a first-of-its-kind clinical study platform

We partnered with the Foundation on two parallel initiatives: a complete redesign of MichaelJFox.org built around an optimistic, accessible design system — and the conception and creation of Fox Insight, their first online clinical study. Fox Insight invites people with Parkinson's and their loved ones to share real-world data every 90 days for up to five years, contributing to a dataset that's now shared with researchers worldwide. Together, the two platforms serve every audience the Foundation touches — from newly diagnosed patients to global research partners.

We began with a full rebrand exercise — creating a design system that's warm, credible, and adaptable enough for the Foundation's in-house team to maintain and evolve. Every page is designed around progressive disclosure and a conversational tone, giving visitors — whether a newly diagnosed patient or a pharmaceutical research partner — a sense of calm and control as they navigate a difficult subject.

Fox Insight is a web application where people with Parkinson's and their loved ones complete study visits every 90 days — tracking symptoms, daily activities, and quality-of-life factors over up to five years. The platform was designed with Parkinson's patients in mind: large click targets, minimal fine motor requirements, clear language, and a save-as-you-go structure that reduces cognitive load. When combined across 30,000+ participants, that data becomes one of the largest real-world Parkinson's datasets in existence.
