Build a brand relationship that lasts beyond the point of sale.
Specialized had a challenge that every hardware brand faces: once the bike is sold, the relationship ends. Research identified three key pain points that were keeping riders from feeling connected to the brand and to each other — community, equipment management, and safety. The opportunity was to build a digital platform that addressed all three, transforming Specialized from a bike company into a platform for the full riding life.

We partnered with Specialized on the product vision and experience design for Specialized Ride: a mobile app that helps cyclists create and discover group rides, set up and manage their gear, and ride with peace of mind using Specialized's ANGi crash sensor technology. Every feature was designed around a clear rider pain point — and together they create a platform that gives Specialized a meaningful presence in riders' lives long after the purchase.

Riding with others is the safest way to ride, but sometimes you just want to hit the road alone. The Ride app pairs with Specialized's helmet-mounted crash sensor, ANGi, to keep riders safe before, during, and after every ride. We brought the ANGi pairing process to life through illustration and animation — making an otherwise mundane task engaging. The incident detection screen is designed to grab a rider's attention and make it easy to disable a crash notification in case of a false alarm.
